DC Fotoweek 2009

So sadly it has taken me at least a week to get around to talking about DC Fotoweek. Life has just been crazy, to say the least. But it was great going into D.C. for the day. I had actually helped to install the pieces for the Corcoran section, and I thought it would be nice to see the entire exhibit installed. Two good friends of mine wanted to check it out with me, and so we all headed into Georgetown. I had never been into Georgetown before, and it’s definitely a place to visit.  It has a mix of history and hip, which is a combination I love.  We couldn’t help but go through the really nice stores and hit up a Starbucks (we couldn’t resist that either) before we finally made it to where the exhibits were. D.C. Fotoweek was actually split up between four different places, and it was stunning photography.  One of my favorites was Cade Martin.  Martin recently did photography for the ballet (can be found under ‘newest’ category) and the photography is just absolutely goregous! It’s theatrical, relates to fairytales, and I just love it. Although Fotoweek is obviously over, I definitely recommend going next year.

Afterwards, we continued walking around and did a little bit of exploring.  I had quite a bit of difficulty trying to figure out how to edit these photographs. I couldn’t decide if I wanted them to keep their original tints, and then how to adjust the exposure.  These photos could be a hot mess but I’m really not sure. It was a struggle.

Before we called it a day, we found this adorable old bookstore called Bartleby’s Books. It was so much fun flipping through the old books, seeing what was there, and when they were originally published.  Some books were so so old and it was fantastic.  Again, I could not figure out what to do with these photos.
