It’s December and it is lovely! People are decorating their homes, I’m putting together Christmas mixes and figuring out Christmas presents, and today is the first day it snowed. And not just the less-than-an-inch snow that makes the majority of people around here freak out and stock up at stores. It was the kind of snow that lasted the whole day, with the thick, fat flakes. I say we got around 2-3”. It is just so beautiful! Sadly it’ll all melt away tomorrow because the temperature will go back up into the 40s. Hopefully we’ll get more soon. I’m crossing my fingers for a snow-filled winter!
Besides the lovely snow, my mom has started decorating around the house and it’s just getting me excited for Christmas. I’m still shocked that it is December, but I’m slowly getting into it. The decorating is certainly helping. I also thought a good way to get into the Christmas spirit would be to try out a new cookie recipe and watching Love Actually.

Love Actually is such a good movie, and I’ll probably watch it 2 more times before Christmas. Maybe 3. Anyways, as I was watching the movie I tried out this Sparking Ginger Chip Cookie recipe. I was thinking about trying out something new, maybe make some adjustments, and share it with my coworkers. I did have to substitute brown sugar for the natural cane sugar, but besides that I had everything else and it turned out a total bust. There was far too much ginger, and I’d probably use semi-sweet chocolate next time because the cookies were just too bitter and overpowered by ginger. I tried to salvage them by adding some more brown sugar, some vanilla, and baking powder to actually make it rise but I sadly decided that after a few attempts it just wasn’t worth saving. And during the process I took a good slice out of my finger when I was cutting the chocolate. Oh well. You can’t win them all! No doubt I’ll find another recipe to try out later this week. And another movie to watch :)
