It could just be the art history side of me talking, but often I have a hard time appreciating contemporary art. I won’t go down that whole path as to why, because if I do I’ll prattle on for a ridiculously long time. However, today I discovered this artist Michelle Armas. It is just fantastic! I love the combination of the floral and the geometric shapes. I adore her work.

Lately I have been searching for art/food/inspirational blogs that can get my creativity flowing. Most recently (actually just tonight!) I found Amanda who writes for the blog Mocking Bird. For one thing, I think she has given the website a very nice design, and as having started out long ago as a graphic designer design has already been a weak spot for me. It probably does not show with my own blog, but I have been meaning to change that I swear. Anyways, I also really like Amanda’s blog for her photography. I think her photography is going to be a great inspiration as I explore film photography!

Last but not least, music! Although I have mostly been listening to holiday music, I recently purchased the song You, Me and the Bourgeoisie by The Submarines. I am pretty sure the song had been used for an iPod commercial, but I really can’t say. Anyways, I’m hooked on the song. It’s catchy and has a great meaning. Here are some of the lyrics:
Love can free us from all excess
From our deepest debts
Cause when our hearts are full we need much less
Yea I know we long for something fine
When we pine for higher ceilings
And bourgeoisie happy feelings
But here we are in the center of the first world
It’s laid out for us, who are we to break down?
Definitely check out their site and listen to their music!
